With more than 200 considered trekking spots like Parvati Valley trek, Bhabha Pass trek, Sari Pass trek, Beas Kund trek, Kheerganga trek, Kasol-Kheerganga trek, Triund trek, Hampta Pass trek, Tosh valley trek; Hampta Pass trek is the most travelled trek in the region of Himachal Pradesh. Hampta Pass is surrounded with lush green valleys, snow-clad mountains, pristine water streams, captivating glaciers and enchanting rivers. This unpolluted and perfect offbeat trekking destination in Himachal is an unfathomable nature’s beauty. Many adventures are performed here (camping, trekking, hiking, biking), one among them is popularly being carried out here is trekking.

Hampta Pass trek is classified as a moderate trek. Perched at an altitude of 14100 feet above sea level, this trek encompasses 19 hours. The trek provides the landscapes that leave the trekkers jaw-dropping with its serenity and soothing environment. From the peak, you’ll see several attractive places like Indrakila, Deo Tibba, Indrasen mountains etc.

Hampta pass is located in Kullu district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an altitude of 4270 meters. The way to the top of Hampta is full of scenic landscape and snow-laden peaks of mountains. If you plan camping there, these fantastic campsites Jobra, Chika, and Balu ka Ghera will leave you stunned.


The best time to undertake Hampta Pass trek is from mid-June to October when the temperature hovers from 12 degree celsius to 20 degree celsius.

How to reach-

The base point of the Hampta Pass trek is Manali which is well connected to Delhi, which is connected to all the other major cities of India via air, road, train. 

You can also reach Manali via flight and train. The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar railway station, and the nearest airport is Bhuntar airport. It is 52 km away from Manali. You will quickly get a cab from Bhuntar and Joginder Nagar to reach Manali.


Grade of the trek-

The difficulty level of trek is easy to moderate and can be done by both beginners and avid trekkers. The trek does not require any prior trekking experience. It is advised to keep your body hydrated throughout the entire journey.


Things to carry for the trek-

  • Camping items like- A Sleeping bag, tent, mattress- If you do not want to bring these items from home, you can borrow them from Manali as well 
  • Useful utensils and all other types of equipment required in trek
  • First aid kit including pain reliever and water purification tablets
  • Permits for the trek- for foreigners
  • Trekking gears like ankle support shoes (water-resistant), sneakers- as an extra and poles which makes snow climbing easier
  • A backpack with waterproof lining
  • Raincoat, rain cover and umbrella
  • Winter clothes- Thermal inner clothes and Thermal inner pants, down jacket and flee jacket
  • Water bottle (2 to 3 litres) and eatery supplements- energy bars, protein bars
  • Camera with extra memory cards
  • Power Bank and Portable charger
  • Headlight with extra batteries
  • Cash- It is always advisable to carry some money as you may not find any ATMs nearby.
